Pintail Candles - Summer 2025

The recent heatwaves would suggest that Summer is finally here, and therefore it’s time for new candles. It just is, don’t argue.
As you may already be aware, we have a range of options in the shop - from wax melts and reed diffusers to candles of varying sizes, shapes and scents. I have obviously taken one for the team and tested every single one to make sure they are as magnificent as they appear to be (it’s a tough job, but someone has to do it) and I can happily sing the merits of all of our products anyway, but I feel as though the new Pintail candles are deserving of their own symphony.
I have chosen a select few scents from their delicious range to celebrate the sunshine (and random showers) of the season, and curated a mini library of gorgeousness to tempt your olfactory senses into a dreamlike state.
Allow me to give you the run down on our new products…
Fresh Linen Medium Tin £12.50 / Small Paint Pot £7.50
Let’s start with our best-selling staple. I first encountered this little beauty at a trade fair where I was wandering aimlessly, coffee in hand searching for inspiration. I happened upon the Pintail candles stand and as soon as I smelt Fresh Linen, I knew we were onto a winner. The CEO described the scent to me as ‘what your house would smell like if you had your sh*t together’, and I couldn’t agree more. Whenever I feel overwhelmed at home, surrounded by my beloved husband's dirty socks - I burn this candle. When the cat has decided to pee on the curtains (again) - I burn this candle. When the dog has let loose a fart so toxic it is as though I can see into another dimension - I burn this candle.
Lemon Grove Medium Tin £12.50 / Small Paint Pot £7.50
In my humble opinion, a candle company based in the Lake District has no business being able to create a candle that literally evokes sunshine, hazy summer days and the indescribable joy of sipping a lemon Fanta after a long day lounging by the pool - but they’ve gone and done it. Lemon Grove isn’t a ‘blow your head’ off, bleach strength lemon scent, but more of a mellow zesty, little number - there’s a coconut and vanilla base that helps to balance the sweetness beautifully. Perfect for burning on a summer evening in the garden (weather permitting).

Vine Tomato Small Paint Pot £7.50
When I initially saw this one, I thought - why would anyone want a candle that smells like an allotment? How foolish of me. How naive. How…basic. This is no sad, salad drawer smelling candle. This is sun streaming through the windows of the best greenhouse on the planet. This is sun-kissed tomatoes atop the greatest salad of your life, singing to you in the summer breeze. There’s tomato fragrance (obviously), but with hints go rhubarb and cassis to help balance everything out. Not a whiff of crusty ketchup bottles to be found.

Sweet Pea Small Paint Pot £7.50
I’m going to level with you. Floral candles are always a winner. Well, almost always. Again - personal opinion only here - overly sweetened, synthetic floral candles leave me cold. However, this little beauty is as clean, fresh and charming as you could wish for. Think glorious walks in the sunshine, abundant flower beds and clear skies. Happiness in a candle.

Sparking Lime and Ginger Small Paint Pot £7.50
This is our wild card entry. A cocktail in a candle they said? Don’t be foolish I said. Surely not, no one wants a house that smells of hangovers and regret over texting their ex during the fug of margaritas.. I stand corrected (again). This candle is a revelatio: warm and aromatic with ginger, cut through and complemented by sharp, zingy lime. This scent is bank holiday giggles with friends over a long lunch, lazy summer days and warm summer evenings in the garden with something iced and fizzy.
Which would you choose? I’ll have one of each thanks, but today I shall be burning lemon grove and imagining a hot Tuscan sunset…
